SSL is now supported for your domain aliases and turned on by default.

Nowadays Chrome displays the "not secure" warning in sites with login and without https. So this users have started complaining to us that the site is not secure. I think this is a bit more important issue since beginning of this year.

It could be quite automated with https://letsencrypt.org/ etc. And if not fully automated at least some way of us uploading a certificate. Otherwise we have to think of abandon custom domain which would be a bit loss :(
